THE SUCCESSFUL LIFE
Lately, I have been thinking about success, why? Because every time I open Pinterest I see a lot of pins about successful habits of super successful people.
I like self-improvement posts and I love habits, so it´s normal that my Pinterest feed is full of this type of post, I like these posts.
However, I have noticed that in almost every of this posts the example of successful people is people like Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk o Steve Jobs. It´s like you need to be CEO of a super big revolutionary company to have a successful life.
Obviously, creating and developing companies like this from nothing require great effort and consistency (and a lot of other things, I am sure), so having goods habits would be key.
Also, a successful life is linked to having a big house, some expensive cars, beautiful husband or wife… being rich basically. Usually, success is linked to having a lot if money.
I don´t think the meaning of success it´s just this, so linked to material things. Also, I think that everyone should have his/her own definition of success. Do not worry about other´s life and think about your definition of a successful life, and if it´s being rich or being a CEO of a super big company, go for it!
Having said that, this post is about habits that will help you improve different areas of your life, and will help you reach your successful life, whatever your idea of success is.

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
Keeping track of your progress it´s key to know if you are moving towards your goals or not.
The best way to efficiently move toward a goal is to track it daily, weekly, monthly and yearly if it´s a big goal. Review what you have achieved, what worked and what not, think of any improvement, what´s left to be done…. If you make a mistake this reviews will make you notice it and correct it.
I like to do a monthly review in which I think about all these things. I think it´s really useful in a lot of ways and it´s also motivating. Knowing that I am moving towards my goals is motivating for me.

LEARN FROM MISTAKES
It´s so important…
So, if you try to do things, anything, even If you do your best, it´s probably that you will make a mistake. Even more, if it´s the first time you are doing this thing.
Do not worry, making mistakes it´s totally fine, in fact, it´s a great way of learning how to do something, it´s “hard way” but I think it´s the most effective. So, you try to so something, make a mistake, learn what not to do next time and keep trying, making mistakes until you succeed. I think that´s the process of creating anything.
So, don´t let mistakes end your creative process and embrace them because it could teach you something.

SPEND MORE TIME WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE
Value your time and spend it with the right people.
I don´t know where I read that you are the average of the five people you spend more time with. I found this.
So, who do you spend most of your time with?
If it´s not the right people, people that add value to your life (in any way), then, why are you doing it? Just let go these people and keep moving.

WRITE DOWN GOALS
It is super powerful.
You are more likely to achieve your goals and dreams if you write them down, and odd increases if you share it with a friend.
Apparently, when you write down your goals you are communicating with every cell of your body that you really want it. This act opens a new dimension of consciousness, now you see the opportunities that before you couldn´t see because you were in the previous step, thinking about your goals.

HAVE A VISION
It is key!
If you don´t have a vision, how to know where you want to go. How do you know your goals?
Having a vision it´s great, but it´s even better if you materialized all your dreams in a vision board.
A vision board will help you practice visualization. Visualization is a mind exercise in which you see yourself succeeding.

We all make mistakes. Accepting your responsibility it´s the first step to learning from it and solve it.
Accepting your mistakes it´s a sign of trust, respect, and strength, everything is good about making mistakes. Also, it´s a sign of vulnerability. You are not perfect, you are human.

No matter how smart you are, you always can learn more. You will reach your successful life by learning.
The first step in the learning process is accepting that you don´t you don´t know something or nothing really, no one knows everything, not even experts.
Nowadays, it´s easy to learn anything you want, all the information you probably need is on the internet, a book, a film…
If not, you can always ask someone.

You can read books about any topic. You will learn something from a book even if you don´t notice it, you will learn from other´s stories, from their mistakes and success. I think it is inspiring to read about other people´s experience.

TALK ABOUT YOUR IDEAS
It´s a great way to commit to your ideas, sharing them. It´s a way to be accountable.
When you share an idea it could happen two things:
- People love it, which is good, you will have support.
- People don´t like it. In this case, you will have a more powerful weapon, you will do it to demonstrate you can do it.
Also, if you share your ideas (with the right people) you could have an interest discussion about it. I will get to know another point of view that could lead to developing your idea or could lead you to another great idea.

KNOW YOUR PRIORITIES
Identify your priorities and task to be done to reach your goals, delegate all you can and focus on your priorities.
Knowing your priorities means that sometimes, lots of times, you will need to say “no”, no to inefficient tasks. Your time is precious, so spend it efficiently on your priorities.
Some time ago, I wrote a post about productivity books “Top 8 Productivity books“. Doing a bit of research for the post I found “Essentialism: The disciplined pursuit of less“, a book about knowing your priorities, getting the right things done. According to Goodreads, “…isn’t about getting more done in less time. It’s about getting only the right things done…”, “It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution towards the things that really matter.”

INVEST ON YOUR HEALTH
This is the first step to a successful life, it really is, without health, you cannot accomplish anything else.
Your energy level, your fuel, is affected by your lifestyle, food, sleep, fitness… everything, even your attitude. So, invest time and probably a bit of money in your health, eat healthy, workout a bit every day and sleep well (super summarized).
Another point is your mind. Attitude is key, a positive mind moves mountains.
The proper attitude will make you see life positively. You will see each issue as an opportunity and each failure as a lesson. This positive thinking will make you learn and keep going.
Your attitude is what will make you want to improve your productivity, eat healthy, learn, workout…
Meditation is a great way to achieve the proper attitude. Also, meditation could help you increase your focus, reduce stress and prevent health diseases. Know more about meditation benefits in the post “What happens to your brain when you meditate“.

Health was the first step but consistency is the key to a successful life.
I love consistency. I feel I´m kind of annoying talking about it in almost every post, but it really is!
Find a routine that suits your life, include tasks that will help you to reach your life goals, do it day in day out, create the habit, and you will achieve anything.
The key is to keep going.
