JUST 5 HABITS
As you probably know, I love habits and also love to discover new ways to improve my productivity. Also, you might know that productivity is one of the main topics of this blog. So, I have been learning, discovering and testing productivity tips and habits for a while now.
Why am I telling you this?
Just to explain that it´s hard to me to pick just 5 habits. However, I wanted to be as simple as possible. If you see a list of 200 habits you might feel overwhelmed and not even try one. So, I thought that just 5 habits would be easy to include in your daily routine and not be intimidated at all. Though, if you need more, if you are a habit addict, welcome to the club, you could read other posts with more tips like “12 Habits to your Successful Life”.
While thinking about the 5 habits, I found that some habits might work for me and my life, but won´t work for you, that´s fine, we are all different. I came to this conclusion after reading “Daily rituals”, a great book about the daily routines of famous successful people like Einstein, Picasso or Woody Allen.
So, I decided to choose easy and general habits and then you can change it to adapt it to your unique need, make it works for you.
Attitude is key!
I think I had written this a thousand times before, I know I might sound like a scratched disk (maybe this expression doesn´t even exist in English, but you know what I mean), but it really is key!
The proper attitude will make you see life positively. You see each issue as an opportunity and each failure as an important lesson.
Your attitude is what will make you want to improve your productivity, learn, explore, workout…
Your attitude is what will help you to anything you want.
The best part is that you can control your attitude. Yes, everything is up to you. No matter what happens, you can always command your attitude.

How to achieve the proper attitude?
Here are some ideas.
- Meditation is a great way to control your mindset. Daily meditation have lots of benefits, you will feel calmer and on command of each situation you will have to face. Try it, even just 5 minutes per day can do wonders
- Positive mantra. Quick and easy. Just say a positive mantra daily. First thing in the morning, go to a mirror smile and repeat a positive mantra, for example, “Today will be a great day”
- Workout a bit. A bit of exercise has lots of benefits for your body but also for your mind. After an exercise, you will feel happier and relaxed. You will also feel better about your appearance, boosting your confidence and self-esteem, good recipe for a positive mindset
- Listen to music. Music makes you feel good and happy. Music + dancing = perfect positive workout!
Even though I know attitude is the most important point, it´s also the most difficult one, I think. I don´t know why when I have a super busy day, the first thing I drop off the list is my daily meditation, just 15 minutes with tons of advantages, and yet is the first thing going away. I am struggling with this point. As a way to me more consistent, I include meditation in my monthly habit tracker, and it´s really me.
#2 DAILY GOAL
Establish a clear daily goal.
Think about what do you want to accomplish today.
Based on your life, year, monthly, weekly goals, think about what to you want to do today to help you reach your goals. It could be as simple or as complicated as you want but focus on just one thing.
Then, just take a sheet, your planner a post-it, your hand or the freebie I have designed for this matter and write it down, it´s important to write it down.
Apparently, when you write down your goals you are officially saying to all your cells in your body that you really want this.
Now, you are on the next level. So, you have set your daily goal, what´s next?
#3 MAKE A PLAN
Make your daily plan. It could ba as simple as a to-do list.
First, reflect on the tasks you have to do to achieve your daily goal, make a list.
Then, include them inti your daily plan and then plan other tasks, tasks that have nothing to do with your goal.
Remember the most important task is to achieve your goal.

#4 WORK EFFICIENTLY
This might be different for all of us. Work during your peak performance hours, any time that suits you, for me is during the morning.
Lately, I have been using the time blocking method and it´s really boosting my productivity.
I use this app, I´m using it right now. it´s similar to the Pomodoro technique. You establish your working period and your break period. During your working period you work and in your break, you can do whatever you want, easy right?. During the working period I just work, no emails, no social media, no nothing, I do these things on my breaks. This technique has reduced the time spent on usual tasks a lot.
Obviously, this is what I use but you can use whatever fits you. You can try different productivity techniques, track the time it takes you to accomplish your daily goal using different methods and then decide what´s better for you.
#5 HAVE A SCHEDULE
The perfect way to balance your work and your life.
Work towards your goals is great, but to do it consistently, day in day out, you need to do it at a pace that your mind and body can support easily. So, free time is as important as working.
Setting working hours helps you to focus when you are working and to unwind at the end of the day, let your mind know that it´s finished. You have worked hard, you deserve a reward.
